Watch out! Beware of vegetable fibre packaging

🌱 Vegetable fibre packaging , a solution to be examined closely
A recent study by the CLCV (National Association of Consumers and Users) urges us to think more about the limits of vegetable fibre packaging, such as kraft paper, which is often, wrongly, considered to be risk-free.

We’ll let you discover the limits revealed by the study:

👉🏼 Presence of harmful substances: bisphenol A was detected in corrugated pizza boxes, and perfluorinated compounds (PFAS) in sugar cane pulp trays. Substances that give cause for concern for health and the environment!

👉🏼 Confusion over claims: the terms “compostable” and “biodegradable” are often used incorrectly or misleadingly, generating unrealistic expectations among consumers.

👉🏼 Exaggerated promises: packaging combining plant fibres and plastic coatings is not as recyclable or sustainable as it claims to be.

These findings underline the urgent need for clarity and innovation in our sector.

But rest assured, our products manufactured at our French company Hanova guarantee transparent and safe packaging solutions! We use raw materials that are traceable and comply with the most demanding European standards. Above all, we are committed to informing our customers about the real properties of our packaging to avoid any confusion or disillusionment.

🌿 The results of this study confirm what we believe: switching to reusable packaging is essential. Packaging made from kraft paper and other plant fibres is an important step (if it is designed according to the rules of the art, using compliant materials), but it must be part of an overall approach that combines sustainability and safety.

Be vigilant with the packaging you use, whether for yourself or for your customers.
